There are parking on the street but they are not free. You can park in Salford (just the other side of the river) for free after 3 pm on Saturdays and all day Sundays. However, because it is for free, it is not easy to find a place and the available parking in Salford is closer to Manchester Cathedral (the other end of Deansgate) than it is to Castlefield, although it is still walking distance still. I would recommend to park on a car park located just outskirts Deansgate Tram station (Euro Car Park) where you can park for 2/2.5 pounds for all day during weekends and then walk towards city center / Deansgate Tram station (1 min walk). Cross the road and walk towards Castlefield through the canal. It will take you 5 min walk and you will enjoy it! P.S. Please call Euro Car Park for more precise information regarding the car park prices during the weekend as they may had changed from last time I was there.
