Option traders piled into bearish bets on Tesla Inc. stock on Thursday at the fastest pace on record as a feud between President Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk escalated, causing the electric-vehicle maker to tally its biggest drop in market capitalization on record.

For months, Tesla shareholders were tormented by Elon Musk’s role in the Trump administration. But any relief from his exit last week turned to fear as the two traded barbs yesterday. Tesla shares plummeted 14% on Thursday as the president threatened to end government contracts and subsidies for Musk’s companies.
