BEIJING: Chinese President Xi Jinping told Russia's top diplomat on Tuesday (Jul 15) that their countries should "strengthen mutual support", state media said, as foreign ministers gathered in Beijing for Shanghai Cooperation Organisation talks.
Russia's Sergei Lavrov and China's Wang Yi discussed global cooperation, U.S. relations, and the Ukraine crisis. Meeting in Beijing, they emphasized united coordination in global forums, reflecting their 'no limits' partnership.
Russia's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing and called for closer coordination in forums like UNSC, SCO, BRICS, G20, and APEC.
Beijing and Moscow should work to "unite countries of the global South and promote the development of the international order in a more just and reasonable direction", Xi said, according to Xinhua.
Foreign ministers of Russia and China convened in Beijing to discuss their relations with the U.S. and the conflict in Ukraine. Emphasizing strategic coordination in global forums, the discussions underscore the evolving geopolitical landscape amid the 'no limits' partnership declared by both nations in 2022.
The reshuffle came just as Trump announced a new program to sell weapons to Ukraine in his most forceful declaration of support for Kyiv to date.
