The University of North Carolina is among a group of schools interested in seeking a potential departure from the ACC when the next round of realignment takes place, and it even could be considered at the front of that pack,
North Carolina football coach Bill Belichick was the main attraction Thursday at the final day of the ACC Kickoff event in Charlotte.
It has been reported that North Carolina is believed to be seeking a departure from the ACC, the conference they have long called home, with eyes on calling the SEC their new conference.
The ACC communications staff received more credential applications this year than ever before. Belichick is almost certainly the reason for that. On campus, UNC also announced the earliest sellout for season and single-game tickets in school history this week despite raising prices 25%.
Swinney and Belichick will face off in a highly anticipated ACC game on Saturday Oct. 4, when Clemson plays at UNC in Chapel Hill. The matchup could be a candidate for ESPN’s “College GameDay” program, depending on both teams’ record.
Bill Belichick is already facing high expectations for his first year as UNC head coach, and one of his counterparts made a bold prediction.
