The Brenham community is grieving after 10-year-old Devah Woods was found dead, having been swept away by floodwaters. Despite rescue efforts, she drowned after a flash flood.

Rescue teams have recovered the body of a 10-year-old Brenham girl who was swept away by floodwaters on Monday. The girl was walking home from school with her sister, following their usual route, when they attempted to cross a bridge.

Devah Woods, the 10-year-old girl who was swept away in floodwaters, was found dead 18 hours after the search and rescue efforts began. Her body was recovered on Tuesday, May 6, in Brenham, Texas, according to the Brenham Fire Department.
