After catastrophic floods hit Texas' Hill Country, many are asking about preparations for the next big flood. Jason Allen spoke to Jay Banner, climatologist at University of Texas at Austin, on the banks of the Guadalupe River.

Renee Smajstrla, a 8-year-old straight-A student from Ingram, Texas, who had played a role in her school’s production of “The Wizard of Oz,” was one of the victims who died in the flash floods at Camp Mystic, her family said.

DURANT, Okla. (KXII) - A Texoma funeral home is collecting items to take to central Texas next week. Along with cash and gift cards, Brown’s Funeral Home is accepting donations such as personal hygiene products and diapers, non-perishable food and items for clean up like trash bags and shovels.

July 9 (Reuters) - U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem called on Wednesday for the Federal Emergency Management Agency to be eliminated in its current form, even as the disaster-relief agency deployed specialists and supplies to Texas to help respond to devastating floods.

The Houston Texans were the first to announce their donations on Saturday, July 5, with more coming throughout the week. The Dallas Cowboys and the NFL Foundation joined the Texans on Sunday, July 6, with each contributing $500,000 in a $1.5 million total donation.

Officials in Kerr County, the hardest-hit region, said the number of missing remained unchanged since Tuesday, at 161. The floods have killed at least 120 people statewide.
