The Chicago White Sox designated reliever Mike Clevinger for assignment Wednesday and promoted reliever Steven Wilson from Triple-A Charlotte.

CHICAGO — The Chicago White Sox designated right-hander Mike Clevinger for assignment on Wednesday. The 34-year-old Clevinger allowed three runs in the ninth inning of Tuesday’s 12-3 loss to the Athletics. He is 0-2 with a 7.94 ERA in five appearances this year — all in relief after spending most of his career as a starter.

The White Sox announced that they have selected the contract of right-hander Steven Wilson. In a corresponding move, fellow righty Mike Clevinger has been designated for assignment. The Sox also announced that righty Justin Anderson,

Tyler Soderstrom hit a pair of three-run home runs, his major league-leading seventh and eighth homers of the season, and the Athletics beat the Chicago White Sox 12-3.

Tyler Soderstrom hit two homers and drove in a career-high six runs and Shea Langeliers also homered, doubled and drove in two runs to lead the visiting Athletics to a 12-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox in the opening game of a three-game series on Tuesday night.
