Celtic extended their Scottish Premiership lead to 16 points but were pushed all the way by Dundee United despite initially looking likely to cruise to victory. Daizen Maeda set the hosts on their way midway through the first half before substitute Reo Hatate's late second secured the points.

Celtic moved 16 points clear at the top of the Premiership table after a 2-0 home win over Dundee United. Goals from Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate gave the Hoops the win, on a night when Brendan Rodgers’ side produced another dominant performance at Paradise.

Celtic face Dundee United this evening in the SPFL Premiership with Brendan Rodgers’ side targeting three points against the visitors. Jim Goodwin’s side sit 3rd in the table and they will look to frustrate Celtic as they did in the 0-0 draw last month.

Dundee United rang the changes with top scorer Sam Dalby on the bench and that seemed the result of players feeling the effects of a challenging schedule. They knew they would concede a lot of possession, but struggled to hold the ball at all in the first half.
