The Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission are inviting the public to submit comments about harmful practices in live ticketing as part of efforts to “identify unfair and anticompetitive” behavior in the industry.

The inquiry follows a March executive order directing the agencies to “ensure that competition laws are appropriately enforced in the concert and entertainment industry” and submit a report to the White House with recommendations for regulations or legislation to protect consumers.

The inquiry comes a month after an executive order from President Trump - issued on the advice of Kid Rock - to combat ticket scalpers, and ordered the government to seek comment from stakeholders across the music industry.
