The last weekend of June in Indianapolis was marred by a rash of shootings that left seven dead and nine others injured. Though there's been a decline in homicides this year, the weekend was the city's most violent so far in 2025.

IMPD says criminal homicides are down almost 30% and nonfatal shootings are down almost 15% compared to this time last year, but councilors have questions.

Six people died in a series of shootings across Indianapolis from Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon. The violent stretch included a shooting at a park, a police pursuit, a crash and the deaths of two 19-year-old best friends.
