California Gov. Gavin Newsom has sued Fox News over alleged defamation, saying the network knowingly aired false information about him over a phone call he had with President Donald Trump around the time the National Guard was sent Los Angeles.

California's governor is taking Fox News to court in a personal capacity, accusing the network of defamation over comments related to the deployment of the National Guard to Los Angeles.

The lawsuit centers primarily on a segment in which Watters claimed the Democratic governor lied about a conversation with Trump ahead of the president's move to deploy the National Guard.
