A Tornado Warning has been issued for the Mississippi counties of Benton, Marshall and Tate until 5:00pm. A tornado has been spotted or detected on weather radar. Seek shelter on the lowest level of a building in an interior room away from windows. If in a mobile home, find a more substantial shelter.

The 16 WAPT weather team caught the confirmed tornado on radar as it moved out of east Marion and into Lamar County. A survey team with the National Weather Service in Jackson determined that it was a high-end EF-2 tornado with winds of up to 135 mph.
A life-threatening outbreak of long-lived and strong tornadoes is expected today in parts of the central and eastern US from a powerful, wide-reaching spring storm.
Severe weather is predicted for the central United States, including potentially deadly tornadoes, large hail and localized flooding that could affect as many as 32 million people through Sunday from Dallas to Cleveland.
The system is expected to trigger multiple strong tornadoes followed by several days of excessive rain that could trigger widespread flooding from Texas to Ohio.
Tornadoes that ripped through Mississippi caused damage to more than 900 homes, according to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA). MEMA reported that 18 tornadoes touched down in the state during the March 14 and 15 severe weather outbreak.
The Mississippi Delta town of Rolling Fork was devastated by an EF-4 tornado in 2023. The town was hit by another small tornado Sunday night.
