The Missouri Supreme Court has temporarily blocked access to abortion in the state, despite a new amendment to the State Constitution, passed by voters, that ensures such access. The court’s ruling on Tuesday lifted an injunction by a circuit judge who had found that some state laws regulating abortion access could undermine the new amendment.

A Jackson County circuit court judge will need to reevaluate her orders to halt multiple abortion laws, the state’s high court rules.

While a court order effectively reinstated Missouri’s abortion ban, the state Supreme Court did not actually rule on abortion access itself — for now.
