Nadal, a 14-time Roland Garros champion whose record may never be surpassed, was honored by tennis rivals Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.

Roland Garros is bracing for a surreal Saturday evening when the biggest noise around the French Open might come not from the courts, but from the nearby Parc des Princes, where tens of thousands of Paris St Germain fans will gather to watch their team contest the Champions League final against Inter Milan.

Novak Djokovic breezed past Filip Misolic to book his spot in the last 16 at Roland Garros on Saturday, but the 24-time Grand Slam winner had to battle with the Champions League final for the crowd’s attention in Paris.

The second show court at Roland Garros is a rocket booster for French players and a washing machine for their opponents.

This western Paris neighborhood boasts a record number of major sports facilities, including the stadium where Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) plays. Its future is already emerging as a key topic in the 2026 municipal election campaign.

There were frequent sounds of fireworks popping from PSG's stadium, just a few blocks from Court Philippe-Chatrier.
