Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon said President Donald Trump’s recent executive order targeting elections was “unlawful.”

Simon is considering joining a lawsuit against the order because the U.S. Constitution puts control of elections in the hands of the states and Congress, not the executive branch.

The special election for Senate District 6 follows Eichorn’s resignation last week. At least eight bids for the seat have been announced so far.
