Rainbow Six Siege is free to play with X update but there's a catch
Ubisoft has revealed what to expect from its big Rainbow Six Siege X update, which is available to play now in a limited time beta.

With the launch of Rainbow Six Siege X, the game will essentially go free-to-play, with access to Dual Front, Unranked and Quick Play modes and the ability to "earn up to 26 operators through progression", Ubisoft says. The game's Ranked Mode and Siege Cup, as well as access to more operators, will then be part of the game's premium editions.

As part of the Rainbow Six Siege X update coming June 10, the tactical FPS will enter what Ubisoft calls "free access." The majority of Siege will be free to access, but its two most competitive modes, Ranked and Siege Cup, will remain behind a paywall.
