Twenty-five years after his lone national title, Tom Izzo has come up short of No. 2. Michigan State fell behind by 15 points in the opening minutes and never could fight all the way back against the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The Michigan State men's basketball team is headed to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division I tournament after defeating Ole Miss 73-70 in Atlanta on Friday. Freshman guard Jase Richardson scored 20 points on just eight shot attempts. He hit 4-of-6 threes, 2-of-2 twos and 4-of-6 free throws while adding six rebounds.

Like all coaches in college basketball, Izzo has built-in bonuses in his contract that are unlocked when hitting achievements. So according to Steve Berkowitz of USA TODAY Sports, that means Izzo reportedly made $200,000 in bonuses for the Spartans' impressive season.
