Israel has called the United Nations' declaration of famine in parts of Gaza an "outright lie," but multiple U.N. bodies, more than 100 humanitarian groups, and several of Israel's own allies have warned for months that the war and Israel's restrictions of food into Gaza are causing starvation among civilians.

Parts of Gaza are officially experiencing a “man-made” famine, according to a Friday report by a United Nations-backed initiative, which added that the situation is expected to worsen after months of relentless conflict.

By June next year, 1.32 lakh children under the age of five will suffer from acute malnutrition, which is double the estimates of the IPC from May this year. This includes more than 41,000 severe cases of children at heightened risk of death,
