Amazon has hired FedEx to handle some of its large package deliveries, the companies said Monday, weeks after UPS said it was halting its less-profitable deliveries for the e-commerce retailer and cutting 20,000 jobs.

Amazon has secured a new partnership with FedEx to fill delivery gaps after falling out with UPS, Business Insider has learned.

Logistics startup Stord said Monday that it's buying a UPS subsidiary Ware2Go for an undisclosed amount. The e-commerce logistics startup is trying to compete against the likes of Amazon and make shipping and fulfillment more accessible to smaller companies.

Amazon and FedEx have entered a package delivery deal, with FedEx becoming "one of several third-party partners to deliver packages" to Amazon customers.

The acquisition of Ware2Go adds 2.5M SF of fulfillment centers to Stord’s network of facilities in North America and Europe.

A spokesperson for UPS confirmed that three facilities in Pennsylvania are closing. The facilities are located at 1821 S. 19th St. in Swatara Township near Harrisburg; at 2006 River Road in Plum, Allegheny County, near New Kensington, and at 2129 Rockdale Lane in Stroud Township, Monroe County, near Stroudsburg.
