The Vaal Dam will open two of its sluice gates on Sunday after the torrential rains. In a miraculous turn of events, the Vaal Dam is expected to become 100% full on Sunday for the first time in years.

“The Vaal Dam continues to rise with water levels at 112.85% and 1 248.11mᵌ/s [cubic metres a second] inflows from the upper catchment,” department spokesperson Wisane Mavasa said.
