A potential weekend snowstorm that forecasters have been monitoring for days will miss Southern New England and we will see just a few flakes of snow.

The National Weather Service's Boston office said a winter storm is expected along the East Coast this weekend, but it is still possible that it could follow a more offshore track, which would not affect the Northeast.

Jason Puma, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, said the snow probably will stick around through the whole week or beyond. The NWS does not expect temperatures to rise above freezing during that time.
