Rochester police identify man shot and killed early New Year's Day
Rochester, N.Y. — Police said an altercation outside a home led to the city's first homicide of 2025. Officers responded to Curtis Street around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a shooting. Police said they found Preston Papalia, 23, of Rochester, lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
