A Kentucky man's persistence paid off in a big way recently. Kentucky Lottery officials said William Elliott, of Stanford, Kentucky, recently won $150,000 on a Powerball ticket. Elliott's winning ticket matched the four white ball winning numbers in July, with a prize of $50,000.

Jennifer Cunningham, the chief spokesperson for the Kentucky Lottery, told the Herald-Leader in an email Tuesday Kentuckians have purchased 4.3 million Powerball tickets since the April 20 drawing.
The jackpot is now estimated to be $565 million, with a cash value of $258.8 million. The next Powerball drawing will take place on Saturday, Aug. 16, according to Powerball.com. Although no tickets sold before the Wednesday drawing matched the numbers drawn to claim the $526 million jackpot, there were $1 million prize winners in three states.
The Kentucky Lottery says Monday night's Powerball drawing produced a $10 million winning ticket, with Double Play, purchased in Oldham County, right outside of Louisville.
