U.S. Rep. LaMonica McIver is set to be arraigned on federal charges Wednesday. McIver is accused of assaulting and interfering with immigration officers outside a New Jersey detention center during a congressional oversight visit at the facility May 9.

Rep. LaMonica McIver has alleged the prosecution is politically motivated and her office called the charges "baseless."

During a Wednesday arraignment hearing, Rep. LaMonica McIver, D-N.J., pleaded not guilty to federal charges arising from her alleged assault of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in May.
