With black smoke billowing over midtown and debris scattered across New Centre Drive, emergency crews responded to a ruptured gas line leading to an explosion at an area vet clinic.

WPD also stated that three firefighters were injured while battling the fire. One of those firefighters has severe burns on their hands. WECT confirmed that a fourth firefighter also sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
