HOUSTON — Former Houston Astros closer Ryan Pressly has reportedly waived his no-trade clause, clearing the way with a deal with the Chicago Cubs. The news was reported by Jeff Passan with ESPN, MLB Network's Jon Heyman and Bob Nightengale with USA Today. The deal is pending a physical.

ESPN's Jeff Passan reported that the Astros are sending reliever Ryan Pressly and cash considerations to the Cubs. In exchange, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reported that minor league pitcher Juan Bello will head to the Astros.

After a few days of speculation, Ryan Pressly has agreed to waive his 10-and-5 no-trade protection to okay a deal that will send the veteran reliever from the Astros to the Cubs.  Houston will receive right-handed pitching prospect Juan Bello in return,

Ryan Pressly described it as one of the hardest decisions he has faced. The Astros’ request for him to waive his no-trade clause last week meant agreeing to move on from his family’s lifelong home and head into unfamiliar territory.

The Boston Red Sox have been closely connected to Houston Astros infielder Alex Bregman, but Boston may be out of the race.
