The Oilers and Wild game got heated last night with multiple controversial incidents, and while some insider suggested extra discipline for Ryan Hartman's slewfoot on Leon Draisaitl, no penalty will come.

There were two incidents in the Edmonton Oilers 5-3 win over the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday night that could well see the NHL hand out fines today, one incident involving Connor McDavid, the other Leon Draisaitl.

Connor McDavid isn’t expected to face any supplemental discipline from the NHL’s Department of Player Safety after elbowing Minnesota Wild winger Marcus Johansson, Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli reported Thursday.

Draisaitl is expected to be a core piece for the Oilers for the foreseeable future. He signed an eight-year, $112 million contract ($14 million average annual value) starting next season and is currently in the final season of an eight-year, $68 million contract ($8.5 million AAV) signed prior to the 2017-2018 season.

The Wild held two separate leads before falling to Connor McDavid and the Oilers, losing Marcus Johansson along the way.

Draisaitl's elite production has led the Oilers to a top-five position in the NHL standings and he is firmly in the mix to take home his second Hart Trophy. Per FanDuel Sportsbook, Draisaitl has the third-best odds to win the award at +320. Only Nathan MacKinnon at +280 and his Oilers teammate Connor McDavid at +300 have shorter odds.

Connor McDavid had two goals and an assist to move into second place on the Edmonton Oilers’ all-time points list in a 5-3 win against the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center on Wednesday.
