The Imperial Beach City Council approved a tenant protection ordinance Wednesday to help limit renovictions, or instances where a landlord evicts a tenant to make major renovations to a property.

The ordinance aims to limit so-called "renovictions": evictions carried out to facilitate renovations and subsequent rent increases.
