Riber Castle, which is located in the Derbyshire Dales and overlooks Matlock, was originally constructed as the private residence of industrialist and philanthropist John Smedley in 1862.
Riber Castle sits in a commanding position on the hillside 200 metres above Matlock and at a Derbyshire Dales District Council meeting last night (October 10) members were keen to protect that view.
