The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has officially filed a class-action lawsuit against President Donald Trump's administration over lack of access to legal counsel and violations of due process for people detained at Florida’s "Alligator Alcatraz.

Pam Bondi said the island prison is a "fantastic" facility because "no one has been known to escape from Alcatraz and survive”

"Immediate action was taken to separate and remove the detainee in accordance with federal protocols," said Stephanie Hartman, a spokeswoman for the Florida Division of Emergency Management, which oversees the site.

Attorney General Pam Bondi and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum visited the site on Thursday to study whether reopening it as a federal prison could work.
