With Casey Schmitt, Jung Hoo Lee and Dominic Smith getting plunked tonight, the Giants have been hit nine times in their last nine games. Schmitt, who’s already filling in for an injured Matt Chapman, had to undergo an X-ray on his wrist after absorbing an errant fastball. While it came back negative, he may have additional testing on Thursday.

But the episode, one that unfolded in the middle of a 12-5 loss to the Marlins, encapsulated the Giants’ collective frustrations. The frustration of being swept by Miami and finishing the nine-game homestand with six losses.

Eric Wagaman doubled in a run and later scored in a two-run second inning that gave Miami the lead for good as the visiting Marlins extended Justin Verlander's season-opening winless streak to 12 games with a 4-2 triumph over the San Francisco Giants in the opener of a three-game series Tuesday night.
