Smart eyewear company Xreal is partnering with Google to produce augmented reality glasses that it is calling Project Aura, a new product built using Android XR technology. The AI-powered glasses will use optical see-through technology to enhance the consumer AR experience and will include a widened 70-degree field of view.

The Google smart glasses era is back, sort of. Today, Google and Xreal announced a strategic partnership for a new Android XR device called Project Aura at the Google I/O developer conference. This is officially the second Android XR device since the platform was launched last December.

Alphabet Inc.’s Google has entered the glasses race by partnering with Xreal Inc. on the first spectacles to run an augmented-reality version of its operating system.
