The Stamp Out Hunger campaign was a big success over the weekend, despite the shaky economy. The national food drive, Stamp Out Hunger, was brought to Erie with the help of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest PA and area postal carriers.

USPS says Stamp Out Hunger Day is the largest one-day food drive in the U.S. and has been going on for more than 30 years.

The National Association of Letter Carriers held its 33rd annual “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive, collecting 16,652 non-perishable food items for the Food Bank of Siouxland. The food bank says the Stamp Out Hunger food drive is the country’s largest one-day food drive, and provides residents with an easy way to donate food to those in need.
