(Reuters) -Indian food and grocery delivery platform Zomato said on Thursday it will rename the company to "Eternal" and unveiled a new logo, a move that comes more than two years after it began using the new name internally.

In a surprising move, food and grocery delivery platform Zomato has announced that it is changing the name of its parent company 'Zomato Limited' to 'Eternal Limited'.

The Zomato app and brand name will remain unchanged. Blinkit grew materially larger than Zomato’s food delivery business in the past year. A number of analysts estimate that Blinkit will grow to account for as much as 70% of the group’s value in the coming year.

As the internet is abuzz with the rebranding, the letter clarifies that Zomato will continue to be the name of the food delivery app. The new name Eternal (formerly Zomato Ltd.) will be the parent brand and comprise all four business verticals of the group, including Zomato, BlinkIt, District, and Hyperpure.

The board of directors at Indian online food delivery company Zomato has approved renaming the company as Eternal. The move was disclosed by the company in a recent Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) filing with the stock exchange.

While the parent company will now be known as Eternal Ltd, the food delivery app will retain the familiar Zomato branding. However, the company’s corporate website will shift from zomato.com to eternal.com, and its stock ticker will change accordingly.
