Boeing's 2024 deliveries fell by about a third from a year earlier to 348 airplanes. The company's delivery gap with rival Airbus widened as the European plane maker handed over 766 jetliners. Boeing struggled to ramp up production and deliveries due to a midair door plug blowout in January 2024 and then a machinist strike in the fall.

Boeing must turn its fortunes around this year to avoid falling further behind Airbus, which plans a production increase as it fixes its supply chain.

In 2024, the plane maker delivered 348 commercial aircraft: 265 737 MAX, 18 767F , 14 777Fs, and 51 787s. In comparison, 2023 deliveries numbered 528 commercial aircraft, including 157 during the last quarter of the year.

As Boeing has battled large headwinds, its archrival Airbus has expanded its delivery lead. Boeing commercial jet deliveries dropped last year by more than a third compared to 2023, as the aerospace giant wrestled with multiple major challenges.

More than three-quarters of the planes that Boeing furnished were 737 Max jets, a stark reminder of how integral its best-selling airline model has been to the company's fortunes and challenges. View
