The Illinois General Assembly on Tuesday passed a bill that will require firearms to be removed from the home of an accused abuser when their state-issued Firearm Owners Identification card has been revoked following the issuance of an order of protection in a domestic violence case.

A bill that would require police officers temporarily removing guns from a person who has an order of protection has advanced in Illinois.

It would require police to confiscate guns within 96 hours from people whose FOID cards have been revoked due to emergency restraining orders.
