Brooklyn Botanic Garden celebrates 100 years of bonsai with a showcase of over 400 specimens, including trees from the 1700s.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden has opened a centennial exhibit celebrating its internationally respected bonsai collection.

The sacred camphor tree at Kinomiya Shrine in Atami is no ordinary timber. Estimated to be more than 2,000 years old, it is one of Japan’s largest and oldest camphor trees.

Despite how small they are, bonsai trees can be quite expensive; factors like tree species, age, design, and artist play into how expensive the plant might be.
