Following Health Secretary Wes Streeting’s recent visit to the proposed site for Consett’s new hospital, the conversation online has been quite active.

The new hospital will replace aging facilities in nearby Shotley Bridge and include a 16-bed in-patient rehabilitation ward and urgent treatment centre. It is hoped the site will be open by 2028/29.
