Microsoft Corp. is rolling out two lower-end versions of its main Surface devices in a bid to drum up interest in computers that can take advantage of the company’s artificial intelligence tools and better compete with Apple Inc.

You can preorder the new Surface Pro 12-inch today at Microsoft’s own store, Amazon, or Best Buy, with pricing starting at $799. Microsoft is shipping the new Surface Pro and a smaller 13-inch Surface Laptop on May 20th to consumers, and businesses will be able to purchase these devices on July 22nd.

Microsoft confirmed some long-standing rumors and unveiled two new compact Surface devices, its second batch of Qualcomm-powered Copilot+ PCs. The devices include a more portable 13-inch Surface Laptop and a 12-inch Surface Pro,

Microsoft has officially shut down Skype, the video-call service that helped launch a new era for online communication. The tech company said it will shift its video-conference services to Microsoft Teams, its flagship communication platform, according to a report in CNET, the tech media outlet.

As the pioneering video-calling service shuts down, Microsoft urges users to switch to Teams for similar features.

Microsoft is no longer offering Skype and is helping its users make the transition to Teams as the service officially retires on May 5, 2025.
