Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko spoke with the media on the final day of SEC media days. The Aggies leader discusses his confidence entering Year 2

The Aggies have almost always been good this century but rarely great. Only once since 1998 have they reached double digits in wins, which, of course, was their SEC debut season in 2012, when America came under the spell of Johnny Manziel. Been downhill pretty much ever since, which is not the kind of results they’ve been paying for.

The optimism for Elko starts with sophomore Marcel Reed entrenched as the starting quarterback heading into the season. Last year, Reed earned his first start in the third game of the season against Florida (a 33-20 win) in place of injured Conner Weigman before finishing with eight starts and winning the job as the Aggies’ top signal caller.
