There was the neo-noir thriller Love Lies Bleeding, the mega-viral love-triangle drama Challengers, the sex-worker-centered Cinderella story Anora, and finally — just hitting theaters with a week left in the year — Nicole Kidman and A24's Babygirl.

Babygirl is not currently available to stream on any subscription-based services, but the film will eventually be coming to streaming, on Max, thanks to the 2023 deal between A24 and Warner Bros. Discovery, which brings A24’s previous and upcoming theatrical releases to the streaming service Max.

Babygirl has been billed as an erotic thriller: the erotic part is accurate, but it’s hardly a thriller. All up, it’s a much more ambitious movie than expected.
