Today, for the first time in Tampa history, the revelry on the Hillsborough River will honor a champion in women's sports. Fresh off Sunday's USL Super League victory, the Tampa Bay Sun will take to the seas to celebrate.

The Sun, along with Tampa business mogul Darryl Shaw, released a plan on Tuesday to build a stadium for the women’s professional soccer team on Ybor’s waterfront. The 15,000-seat stadium would be located within Ybor Harbor, a forthcoming 33-acre mixed-use development headed up by Shaw. It would also include a boutique hotel.
