After Tropical Storm Chantal made landfall in South Carolina over the Fourth of July weekend, the tropics are now quiet. Well, sort of. Chantal is now a post-tropical cyclone, according to the last advisory issued by the National Hurricane Center at 11 a.m. ET.

Tropical Storm Chantal became the first named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season to hit the United States after it made landfall in South Carolina early Sunday. It isn’t a major threat to land.

Chantal continues to dissipate as it moves into the Northeast, but it dropped over half a foot of rain in areas between Greensboro and Raleigh, NC.
